On October 2nd, Dr. David Weinberg spoke to parents, faculty and guests about the beginnings of the Montessori movement.  His lecture, Tabula Rasa, which means clean slate, spoke about the scientific approach that Maria Montessori took with her first school in Rome.  Dr. Montessori put aside all that was common to education at the time and entered the classroom with her own clean slate. She filled it according to her observations of the children in her care.  They showed her how they learn.

Dr. Weinberg also spoke about parenting, child psychology and the role of the adult in the life of the child.

Dr. Weinberg's lecture was a look back at our Montessori roots.  It was both heart-warming and inspirational to pull him out of retirement and have him share his passion for Montessori with us all.
